How they are made
Each Contour Box is a fusion of mapping technology and craftsmanship.
Key to this is understanding the area requested; it's relief and it's character, framing the data so that the landscape looks 'right'.
Having been given a location the relevant data is retreived from which a model is created.
The box top is carved by a CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machine which is fed the map data from your chosen location.
It is then carefully cleaned up and attached to the handmade box base via wooden or fine metal hinges and hand-finished using high quality finishing oil.
